Super Bowl Social Media Showdown: Pepsi Scores the Most Buzz

on February 6, 2012 - 1 Comment

The New York Giants beat the New England Patriots in last night’s Super Bowl XLVI, but which brand won the social media battle? An analysis of over 229,000 messages across social media found that the most buzzed about brand is Pepsi, scoring over 18 percent of all Super Bowl advertisement-related messages. Coca Cola and M&Ms earned second and third place, each earning approximately 10 percent of related buzz.

While the New York Giants take the buzz lead with 65 percent of team-related buzz, Tom Brady bested Eli Manning in quarter-back buzz. The Patriots quarterback earned almost triple the social media buzz of his rival with 73 percent compared to Eli Manning’s 27 percent.
